Jennifer Newton
"Stand in front of your past and let it be. In this space of LOVE all things are possible". ― Baron Baptiste
I initially found yoga through my local YMCA right after the birth of my third child. Having tried many different forms of workout, yoga was the right fit. Fast forward a couple of years, one more child, a few ups and downs (okay, some big downs), I found myself more dedicated than ever to my practice. This dedication to yoga and a need to do something more with my life led me to seek out a 200hr yoga teacher training. After much study, I found CorePower Yoga in Charlotte. This was a surprise to me, I had always loved yoga but was apprehensive about the "power" part. Not only was the style of yoga powerful, it was also hot! I fell in love with the way this style of yoga made me feel. A good sweat does wonders for the spirit. My body began to change in ways I never thought possible. I began to see tone, muscle definition, and stamina I never had before. Once again, yoga had transformed my life. I graduated from CorePower Yoga in December 2017 with a certification in Power Yoga.

Jordan Harris
Jordan has been practicing yoga regularly since 2013. At the time she was training for her first marathon and noticed how much yoga seemed to help her speed, flexibility and recovery time. As her practice improved, she started noticing she felt better inside as well. She handled stress better and just felt overall more calm. Observing these things, she realized yoga wasn’t just about the asanas.
In 2015, within a few months time span, Jordan experienced several life changing events including the loss of a parent and a diagnosis of MS. After much research and thought, yoga seemed to be the answer.
It was about the complete picture: mind, body and soul. It has helped her heal in so many ways. She was so excited to have the opportunity to learn under Tony Parra and obtained her 200 hour yoga teacher training (200RYT) through Tony’s teaching program, The Living Path of Enlightened Yogis. Yoga has the amazing ability to give you just what you need when you need it. Her hope is to help you find the best version of yourself, and aid you in finding peace and confidence within.

Kary Lawson
"You can’t serve from an empty vessel- Self care is the first step in healing." Kary found yoga in college at UNC-Wilmington in 1993. It quickly became the peace she needed in her life. In 2008 she completed her 200 hour training in an integrated, alignment based style of yoga known as the Anusara method. In 2010 Kary broke her back while sledding, a major setback in her teaching and personal life. She made a quick recovery and gives yoga the credit, physical therapy consisted of yoga postures. After several years and a few more hardships, Kary made her way back into the yoga community. "It has taken me 2 years to find the right studio and the right teachers. Pure Light is exactly that, the light has reciprocated through its teachers and I found how much I missed teaching. I hope to bring the faith of renewal or regeneration to my students. I hope to give this gift to others that has healed my mind, body, and spirit. Steps toward healing oneself."
Hannah Jackson
Hannah began her practice in college, however, she fell in love with yoga at Pure Light Yoga. After joining PLY, her practice deepened and going to the studio was the best part of her day. Her favorite aspect of yoga is the differences she can see and feel in not only her body, but also her mind and soul. Yoga has taught her methods to calm her over active mind, how to handle stressful situations and to appreciate the body she has been given.
Hannah loved the power yoga classes at PLY so much that she decided to complete her RYT 200 at Corepower Yoga in Charlotte. There she earned her certification in Power Yoga. Hannah’s goal in her classes is to ensure that EVERYONE feels welcomed and that yoga is truly a practice that can be for anyone. She hopes to bring a warmth and love to every class.
Angela Tollmann
Angela grew up in upstate New York with a deep love of nature and the world around her. She recalls walking trails near Niagara Falls and feeling “connected” to the world around her, even as a child.
She took her first yoga class in college. It was a struggle. She, like so many of us, found the slowing down difficult. Instead of giving up, she decided to “trust the process”. This would prove to be an invaluable lesson later on.
Angela went on to become a wife and mother. With her busy life, yoga became an afterthought. However she did not lose her love of physical fitness. Angela began teaching Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and a variety of Aerobic exercises. In 2011 Angela lost her eldest daughter. She was devastated. Her world crumbled, she was in shock, her only question was “why”. In her own words she says “I knew the price of love, it’s grief, it humbled me”. Angela threw herself into bodybuilding. Something was missing. Her heart still ached, her body more stressed. Her doctor suggested Yoga. The journey back to herself had begun.
In the spring of 2019 Angela enrolled in and completed her 200hr YTT at Yoga Mindset in High Point. She went on to certify in “Kidding Around Yoga” (yoga for kids). Her plans for the future include certifications in Yoga Therapy and Trauma Sensitive Yoga. She now feels that her calling in life is to help and serve others. To share the precious gift of life with all.
Angela currently resides in Randleman, NC with her family, several of which are on four legs! You can find Angela teaching 8:30am Slow Flow Yoga every Sunday morning.
